About The Position

The R Street Institute, a free-market think tank headquartered in Washington, D.C., is seeking a collaborative individual to focus on technology policy research and analysis concerning cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technology issues. This role is part of the Technology and Innovation policy department. The ideal candidate will report to the Senior Director of Technology and Innovation Policy and is suited for someone who wants to join a mission-driven organization and work toward pragmatic policy solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Produce written research, analysis, and commentary on issues related to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and/or other emerging technology topics.
  • Produce multimedia content.
  • Participate in panel discussions and/or briefings for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Conduct policy-relevant research on cybersecurity issues including data protection, critical infrastructure security, and post-quantum cryptography.
  • Support research initiatives on artificial intelligence policy, including safety, governance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Engage with additional technology policy areas as program needs evolve.
  • Produce written publications including issue briefs, blog posts, and policy memos.
  • Assist Senior Fellows with major policy papers, regulatory comments, and testimony preparation.
  • Provide timely analysis of breaking developments across the technology policy landscape.
