Feed Mill Driver
About The Position
The Feed Mill Driver hauls feed from the mill to the houses and assists the mill when needed. The role also involves truck and mill maintenance as needed. Drivers are expected to support a positive work atmosphere, maintain regular attendance, deliver feed to the correct locations, and complete required documentation and daily equipment inspections for DOT compliance. When not driving, the driver assists with maintenance, cleaning, and repairs of feed-handling equipment, the mill, trucks, and trailers. The driver must follow safe work practices, GMPs, sanitation requirements, food-safety and quality procedures, and biosecurity directions.
Requirements
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Driver’s license with no more than two moving violations in the last five years.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, vendors, or employees of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere through constructive communication and conduct with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance in relation to production scheduling or volunteered time.
- Drive the feed truck, load feed, haul it, and deliver it to the correct locations.
- Complete required documentation for DOT compliance and perform a daily equipment inspection before use.
- Assist the Maintenance department with daily maintenance, cleaning, and repairs of feed-handling equipment when not driving; assist the mill with maintenance as needed.
- Perform basic maintenance on trucks and trailers.
- Clean truck cabs and trailers as needed in designated truck-cleaning areas.
- Immediately report damage or repair needs to the Lead or Mill Supervisor.
- Follow safe work practices and GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, preserve product quality, and report conditions or practices that could adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
- Follow directions for biosecurity and bird disease prevention.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
