About The Position

The Career Services Student Worker plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the career office. This position offers hands-on experience in administration, marketing, and career advising support. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, and eager to help fellow students navigate their career journeys. Perform specialized office support functions or services that require some training, skill, or experience. Duties include providing customer service and specific information, data entry and use of standard office software programs & systems, work within established guidelines and policies. Limited supervision is provided; ability to perform a wide range of duties. This is a part-time, on-campus position open to currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled student in good academic standing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable with social media platforms and basic content creation.
  • Detail-oriented with experience managing data or administrative tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the 12twenty platform by adding new graduate information and performing regular data cleaning to remove duplicates and correct inaccurate entries.
  • Develop and maintain a user guide for 12twenty to support office staff and students.
  • Update and manage the Student Organization and CIO list and other internal databases.
  • Label and categorize student records each semester, including identifying transfer students.
  • Tag companies and job postings in Handshake by relevant categories, industries, and majors to improve searchability.
  • Manage and maintain the office-wide calendar, coordinating scheduling across staff and events.
  • Research and evaluate new platforms, tools, and programs to assess their potential value for the office.
  • Conduct benchmarking research on peer career offices and their social media presence.
  • Manage the office's social media accounts, creating and posting engaging content at a consistent cadence.
  • Post and distribute event fliers across campus and digital channels.
  • Conduct peer interviews to gather student tips on finding internships and navigating the workplace; share insights through office channels.
  • Compile and format a weekly newsletter, including reviewing job postings for appropriateness, formatting content, and sourcing relevant alumni job opportunities to feature.
  • Provide on-site event support for career fairs and employer events, including creating QR codes to track and report attendance.
  • Assist with resume reviews for fellow students, with training provided (CPE certification may be available.)
