About The Position

BASF's Performance Chemicals division is seeking an FCC Production Operator to join their team in Attapulgus, GA. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of industrial chemical processing equipment used to produce FCC catalyst. The operator will be responsible for monitoring equipment, performing inspections and maintenance, supporting safety procedures, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with operational and environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • Hold a high school or GED.
  • Possess industry experience (preferred).
  • Have the ability to safely operate, maintain, perform minor repairs, and make proper adjustments on associated equipment within the work area.
  • Are able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions as the ability to use a process computer controller.
  • Are proficient using computer software, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Edge, and Excel.
  • Are able to understand and respond promptly to environmental and personnel hazards.
  • Can read, write, and perform accurate arithmetic calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Have the ability to learn equipment names, process flow, and equipment functionality within the production area.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate industrial chemical processing equipment to produce FCC catalyst using available resources such as Process Orders, Procedures, and notes.
  • Perform operator rounds, safety inspections, and performance inspections, identifying items requiring corrective work.
  • Perform equipment-specific Lockout/Tagout procedures and Safe Work Permitting, while supporting safe plant operations and housekeeping activities.
  • Start up and shut down production plants and perform outside operator tasks, including manipulation of valves, startup/shutdown of pumps, cleanout of spray bars and equipment, and monitoring production process performance.
  • Perform routine operational preventative maintenance tasks, collect process samples, and complete routine laboratory testing.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform or recommend corrective actions to support reliable plant performance.
  • Use HMI controls and computer systems to start up and shut down equipment, monitor processes, respond to alarms, and access work instructions, process orders, email, quality data, safety data sheets, and other relevant information.
  • Utilize tools to perform tasks on process equipment, explain plant process flow and equipment functionality, and support additional tasks assigned by supervision.
