This position provides nursing services to the medical unit and both administrative and clinical supervision for central nursing staff. Requirements
- Must be licensed as RN in NC.
- Minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Four years of experience in psychiatric nursing.
- Minimum of 1 year supervisor/management experience.
- Strong psychosocial and clinical assessment skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clients/families.
- Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.
Nice To Haves
- Four year BS degree in nursing is preferred.
- Actual work experience will be considered in addition to other requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provides administrative and clinical supervision to all direct reports, including handling evaluations, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Ensures required trainings and licensures are maintained.
- Creates and monitors central nurses' schedule, ensuring appropriate RN coverage for the FBCs.
- Provides 24/7 on-call consultation for nursing and med tech staff.
- Provides clinical supervision for all FBC nursing and med tech staff and assists center directors with evaluation processes and disciplinary issues regarding nursing practice and client care.
- Facilitates training of nurses and medication aids/techs.
- Participates in regularly scheduled oversight meetings to consult on and update the Medical Director and Chief Program Officer on nurses' status/issues.
- Provides assessment for admission, medication administration, and medication education on an as-needed basis to maintain appropriate RN coverage for all FBCs.
- Monitors medication errors and provides education and training as needed.
- Monitors pharmacy functioning and troubleshoots when necessary to ensure FBCs have appropriate medication available.
- Stays updated on current nursing trends, policies, and procedures and assists in keeping other nurses updated.
- Provides crisis intervention consultation to all members of the team.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by management.
