Requirements

  • Must be licensed as RN in NC.
  • Minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Four years of experience in psychiatric nursing.
  • Minimum of 1 year supervisor/management experience.
  • Strong psychosocial and clinical assessment skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clients/families.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Four year BS degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Actual work experience will be considered in addition to other requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and clinical supervision to all direct reports, including handling evaluations, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Ensures required trainings and licensures are maintained.
  • Creates and monitors central nurses' schedule, ensuring appropriate RN coverage for the FBCs.
  • Provides 24/7 on-call consultation for nursing and med tech staff.
  • Provides clinical supervision for all FBC nursing and med tech staff and assists center directors with evaluation processes and disciplinary issues regarding nursing practice and client care.
  • Facilitates training of nurses and medication aids/techs.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled oversight meetings to consult on and update the Medical Director and Chief Program Officer on nurses' status/issues.
  • Provides assessment for admission, medication administration, and medication education on an as-needed basis to maintain appropriate RN coverage for all FBCs.
  • Monitors medication errors and provides education and training as needed.
  • Monitors pharmacy functioning and troubleshoots when necessary to ensure FBCs have appropriate medication available.
  • Stays updated on current nursing trends, policies, and procedures and assists in keeping other nurses updated.
  • Provides crisis intervention consultation to all members of the team.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by management.
