About The Position
The Virginia Department of Correction’s (VADOC) Agribusiness Unit is charged with providing agricultural training opportunities to inmates in an effort to enhance re-entry and reduce recidivism, while reducing food cost for the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC).
Requirements
- Demonstrate ability to operate farm equipment
- Demonstrated ability to supervise
- Follow written and oral instructions
- Keep accurate records
- Solve practical problems
- Knowledge of cattle management practices and applications
- Herd health management skills
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks within limited timeframes
- Skilled in teamwork
Nice To Haves
- Agricultural, construction or equipment experience
- Possession of Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one
- Beef Quality Assurance Certification or the ability to obtain one
