About The Position

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Family Time Coordinator to assist families in ensuring they can spend quality time together. This position is based in the John Day office and involves in-person assistance to Oregonians. The role is within the Child Welfare Program and aims to support children and young adults in being safer, healthier, experiencing less trauma, and achieving greater well-being. The position offers unique and interesting workdays where adaptability and flexibility are valued.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
  • One year of experience working in a human services or behavioral health setting; OR an associate degree in any field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience using organizational skills, prioritization, and time management to meet deadlines.
  • Experience using various computer systems or databases, including Microsoft 365 programs.
  • Experience completing tasks that demand meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience evaluating information to make informed decisions and guide actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Experience in articulating observations and communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to complete the US Department of Homeland Security’s I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States within three days of hire.
  • Must be cleared by the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) through a fingerprint-based criminal records check.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure children's safety and well-being during visits and transport, addressing any issues and documenting outcomes.
  • Provide transportation support for children and others associated with the case, supporting their emotional needs.
  • Keep accurate records, prepare court notes, provide feedback to service workers, and participate in meetings and conferences.
  • Implement and manage individual visitation agreements and safety plans by coordinating with case workers, clients, and caregivers.
  • Plan visit schedules, locations, supervision levels, and safety measures using information from various sources.
  • Review and explain visitation agreements and guidelines to clients, family members, and caregivers.
  • Communicate visitation expectations and respond to post-visit inquiries from caregivers and family members.
  • Work with challenging and sometimes hostile clients.
