About The Position

Family Resource Networks (FRN) are a Provincially funded initiative to provide programs and support services for families with children 0-18 years. The Greater Foothills FRN provides programs and services for children youth and families spanning three counties and 13 communities. Reporting to the Supervisor, FRN, the Family Support Worker provides targeted in-home support to families with children under six to strengthen parenting capacity, promote child development, build parental resilience, and enhance community connections through strength-based home visitation. Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in social services/human services or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working one-on-one with families
  • Solid understanding of child development
  • Experience working with a diverse population that may be experiencing mental health, poverty, homelessness and or addiction issues
  • Solid knowledge of community resources and supports

Responsibilities

  • Provide in home supports to families under the Greater Foothills Family Resource Network’s Growing Families Home Visitation Program
  • Provide parenting education, guidance, and support through collaborative, strength-based goal setting with families.
  • Plan and prepare individualized visits that respond to family needs and align with best practices and program resources
  • Work alongside families to support the successful use of new strategies and skills.
  • Support families by linking them to community resources and support services.
  • Complete required assessments, service plans, case notes, and discharge documentation.
