About The Position

Responsible for the provision of family support services to families and individuals involved in the Omaha Tribal Children and Family Services program. Family Support services are provided to enhance and strengthen families and must maintain or strengthen the family/individual's capacity to function as independently as possible. These services will be delivered in a family-centered, community-based and culturally competent manner. Other family support services will assist adults to become self-sufficient in a safe and healthy environment.

Requirements

  • Have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years work experience in the Human Service field. This experience could include Social Work, Counseling/Guidance, psychology, sociology, human development, mental health education or a closely related human service field.
  • Must have a driver's license and be insurable by the Tribe.
  • Willing to submit to random drug test and adhere to the drug free workplace policy.
  • Submit to the central registry.
  • Must be able to write reports, business or legal correspondence.
  • Must have the ability to communicate well, both in writing and orally.
  • Must be able to manage time well to complete work assigned.
  • Must be familiar with child development, family dynamics, and the court process for handling of juvenile cases.
  • Must be familiar with community resources available to families and children.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Omaha family traditions.
  • Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate, educate, and empower families how to achieve a healthy and safe home environment.
  • Demonstrate, educate, and empower families how to provide proper care, safety, and management of children.
  • Demonstrate, educate, and empower families how to improve communication skills.
  • Demonstrate, educate, and empower families how to manage aggression and anger.
  • Demonstrate, educate, and empower families how to seek out and utilize alternative support systems.
  • Demonstrate, educate, and empower families how to achieve self-sufficiency.
  • Provide transportation as required for clients/families and to attend to business as directed.
  • Monitor and provide assistance at family visits.
  • Provide necessary safety interventions for the family.
  • Document all contact with clients and related persons.
  • Provide written and oral reports to case managers as directed.
  • Attend training as directed.
  • Attend meetings, court hearings as necessary in work with families.
  • Work weekends or evenings to provide any of above services for families.
  • Other duties as assigned.
