About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a talented Family Support Supervisor to provide leadership and implement LSF services. The role involves general supervision and coaching of designated staff, ensuring services accountability and criteria adherence, and performing related administrative tasks. The Supervisor fosters a respectful, collaborative work environment that enhances the well-being of both families and staff, promoting a team approach to management and encouraging staff participation in planning. Family support services aim to assist the Case Management Organization through client transportation, supervised visitation, foster parent support, and other necessary support functions. The supervisor directly oversees the Family Support Worker team and may assist with these direct responsibilities when needed. This role implements the vision and direction for LSF services in line with the LSF mission and philosophy, setting goals and objectives for staff and services. The position ensures compliance with agency/service policies and procedures, participates in policy development, and collaborates with HR on staff management, including hiring, terminations, employee relations, supervision, performance evaluation, training, and professional development. The Supervisor organizes and directs work, advises staff on complex issues, and makes decisions on exceptional situations to manage and implement appropriate services.

Requirements

  • GED/High School diploma required.
  • One to three (1-3) years’ experience with community/social service agencies is required.
  • Must have good time management, organizational, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function in a multi-cultural environment effectively with clients, co-workers, volunteers, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Dependability, discretion, and good judgment.
  • Certified First Aid/CPR and crisis intervention.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, parents, co-workers, volunteers, governmental and other agencies, and the general public.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • Valid driver’s license and appropriate auto liability insurance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field preferred.
  • Past supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to Family Support Services Specialists that is strength-based, proactive, and collaborative.
  • Ensure staff are fully trained to provide quality client services.
  • Develop and implement collaborative, cooperative, regularly scheduled, individual and group supervision with Family Support Services Specialists.
  • Make occasional home visits with Specialists for coaching and to ensure family needs are recognized and addressed in a strength-based manner.
  • Offer staff continuous feedback and complete performance evaluations; recommend appropriate personnel actions.
  • Review all encounters to ensure accountability and compliance.
  • Monitor staff hours and scheduling to ensure compliance with LSF policy and procedures.
  • Oversee agency vehicle fleet maintenance and inspection.
  • Coordinate the transportation of children to and from program placements, supervised visits, and medical/dental appointments.
  • Maintain weekly Transportation Request tracking sheet and assign requests for supervision and transportation as appropriate.
  • Prepare required reports and other documentation as instructed by Assistant Program Directors/Permanency Specialist Manager.
  • Participate in community outreach programs, including recruitment events, meetings, and support groups.
  • Attend and participate in staff/professional trainings, meetings, and supervision sessions.
  • Maintain contact with upper management regarding changes and updates related to on-call needs.
  • Facilitate quarterly team meetings to provide updates and discuss trends within the agency.
  • Ensure Family Support Services Specialists fully understand and successfully implement the scope and responsibilities of their positions and can execute all job functions adequately.
  • Treat customers, the public, and staff with courtesy, respect, and dignity, presenting a positive public image.
  • Keep Permanency Specialist Manager fully informed of activities, pertinent issues, upcoming events, and potential problems.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Support the unit, department, and/or organization and work with others to accomplish goals.
  • Make a reasonable effort to adhere to established safety procedures and practices and ensure unit workers do the same.
  • Attend and successfully complete all mandated training courses.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality rules.
  • Report to Permanency Specialist Manager.
  • Act as a team player with co-workers and administrators.
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely submission of required documents and reports.
  • Adhere to all licensing and quality assurance standards.
  • Serve as a liaison to government, courts, schools, and community providers.
  • Adhere to agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
