About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a talented Family Support Supervisor to provide leadership and implement LSF services. This role involves the general supervision and coaching of designated staff, ensuring services accountability and adherence to criteria, and managing related administrative tasks. The Supervisor fosters a team approach, encourages staff participation in planning, and promotes a respectful, collaborative work environment that enhances the well-being of both families and staff.

Requirements

  • GED/High School diploma required.
  • One to three (1-3) years’ experience with community/social service agencies is required.
  • Must have good time management, organizational, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function in a multi-cultural environment effectively with clients, co-workers, volunteers, government agencies and the general public.
  • Dependability, discretion, and good judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, parents, co-workers, volunteers, governmental and other agencies, and the general public.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • Valid driver’s license and appropriate auto liability insurance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field preferred.
  • Past supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Certified First Aid/CPR and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision of the Family Support Worker team and may assist with direct responsibilities when needed.
  • Implement the vision and direction for LSF services, aligning with the LSF mission and philosophy, and setting goals and objectives for staff and services.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all agency/service policies and procedures, identify appropriate procedures, and participate in policy development.
  • Facilitate program staff team building, hiring/terminations, employee relations, supervision, performance evaluation, training, and professional development in collaboration with HR.
  • Organize and direct work and activities, advise staff on difficult issues, and make decisions on exceptional situations.
  • Provide strength-based, proactive, and collaborative supervision to Family Support Services Specialists.
  • Ensure staff are fully trained to provide quality client services.
  • Develop and implement collaborative, cooperative, regularly scheduled, individual and group supervision with Family Support Services Specialists.
  • Conduct occasional home visits with Specialists for coaching and to ensure family needs are met in a strength-based manner.
  • Offer continuous staff feedback, complete performance evaluations, and recommend personnel actions.
  • Review all encounters for accountability and compliance.
  • Monitor staff hours and scheduling for compliance with LSF policy and procedures.
  • Oversee agency vehicle fleet maintenance and inspection, and coordinate transportation of children for placements, visits, and appointments.
  • Maintain a weekly Transportation Request tracking sheet and assign requests.
  • Prepare required reports and documentation as instructed by Assistant Program Directors/Permanency Specialist Manager.
  • Participate in community outreach programs, including recruitment events, meetings, and support groups.
  • Attend and participate in staff/professional trainings, meetings, and supervision sessions.
  • Maintain contact with upper management regarding on-call needs.
  • Facilitate quarterly team meetings for updates and trends within the agency.
  • Ensure Family Support Services Specialists understand and implement their job scope and responsibilities.
  • Treat customers, the public, and staff with courtesy, respect, and dignity.
  • Keep Permanency Specialist Manager informed of activities, issues, and potential problems.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Support the unit, department, and organization, and work collaboratively to achieve goals.
  • Make a reasonable effort to adhere to established safety procedures and practices.
  • Attend and successfully complete all mandated training courses.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality rules.
