About The Position

We are seeking a mission-aligned Family Support Specialist who will leverage their lived caregiver experience to enhance our care model. This role involves partnering with caregivers of youth facing various challenges, offering support, building trust, and assisting them in navigating systems to achieve lasting wellness. The specialist's personal experience as a caregiver will be crucial in establishing authentic relationships with families facing complex issues.

Requirements

  • Lived experience as a caregiver (biological, adoptive, foster, or authorized relative caregiver) of a child or youth with emotional, behavioral, mental health, substance use, or developmental challenges, who has navigated child-serving systems on their behalf.
  • 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Tennessee Certified Family Support Specialist (CFSS) credential, or eligibility and willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • At least 12 months (within the past 10 years) of paid or volunteer experience supporting families or navigating child-serving systems.
  • Willingness to work under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional.
  • Comfort with technology, including telehealth, a smartphone app (Holon Vibe app), and basic digital documentation.
  • Tennessee residency, reliable transportation, and ability to make occasional community or field visits.
  • Ability to pass background checks required for working with minors and families.
  • Strong boundaries, cultural humility, and a deep commitment to family voice and choice.

Nice To Haves

  • CFSS already certified.
  • NAMI Family-to-Family or Parent-2-Parent completed.
  • Experience with juvenile justice, child welfare, truancy/school, or youth behavioral-health systems (especially for Memphis/Shelby County youth work).
  • Familiarity with engagement or contingency-management models.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with caregivers as a peer, using lived experience to build trust, offer hope, and be a reliable point of contact.
  • Drive family engagement in the program by assisting families with program initiation, appointment adherence, and utilization of the Holon Vibe app for daily check-ins, caregiver lessons, and engagement rewards.
  • Reinforce the caregiver curriculum by modeling and supporting communication and problem-solving skills taught in the program.
  • Navigate and advocate across systems, including schools, courts, child welfare agencies, community resources, and existing behavioral-health providers, while teaching families self-advocacy skills.
  • Build the family's support network and help caregivers set family goals aligned with the care plan.
  • Coordinate with the Holon care team by keeping the primary care provider and case manager informed, flagging concerns early, and ensuring the family remains central to the care plan.
  • Document engagement (non-clinical) by recording participation and progress in the platform, upholding guardian consent, youth privacy, and Holon's compliance rules.
