About The Position

This position is responsible for initiating and maintaining regular long-term home visiting services and providing referrals to other needed support services. The role involves providing education on parenting, child development, and child and home safety, completing developmental and parent screens, and modeling positive parent-child interactions. The specialist will assist families in setting and achieving goals, link them to community resources, and maintain accurate documentation. Participation in supervision, training, team meetings, and community events is also required. Additional duties include reviewing screens/referrals for eligibility, initiating outreach, completing assessments within 30 days of enrollment, and making referrals for ancillary services.

Requirements

  • At least a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • At least one year of experience working with children or families
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships
  • Experience in working with or providing services to children and families
  • Acceptance of individual differences
  • Experience and humility to work with culturally diverse populations
  • Knowledge of infant and child development
  • Willingness to engage in building reflective capacity
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to complete documents in Microsoft Word
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills
  • Ability to work independently conducting home visits within the community
  • Must have transportation and be willing to visit clients in their homes
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with full access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage (proof of insurance is required)
  • Must pass background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse
  • Must pass drug testing

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing screens/referrals to determine eligibility
  • Initiating outreach to potential participants
  • Completing the HFFAT within 30 days of enrollment
  • Making appropriate referrals for ancillary services
