About The Position

This position plans, administers, monitors, and evaluates the day-to-day operations of a Family Store with a limited staff ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. The role involves assisting in preparing and maintaining the store budget, processing and displaying donated items, and setting prices to ensure a reasonable financial return. The manager will assist customers in a polite and friendly manner, prepare attractive and orderly store displays, and rotate and re-stock merchandise for quick turnover. This position also ensures the accountability and security of all store items and funds. The manager may serve as a lead worker to volunteers, beneficiaries, and/or subordinate store personnel.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years progressively responsible experience working in a retail store environment with at least one year experience in a supervisory capacity, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Confident in using math skills to ensure the understanding of budgeting.
  • Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Administers and monitors the day-to-day operations of a Family Store.
  • Meets sales, production, and expense budget goals, maintain a profitable operation.
  • Serves as lead worker to volunteers, beneficiaries, and/or subordinate store personnel.
  • Trains and instructs staff in the proper methods and procedures for performing work.
  • Inspects work in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness.
  • Plans, supervises and participates in the layout and display of store merchandise.
  • Ensures that stock is routinely rotated and prices encourage the desired level of stock turnover.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises the preparation of displays for special promotions or seasons.
  • Notifies warehouse personnel of low-stock items.
  • Ensures compliance to Guide to Family Store & Donation Centers Operations manual and all other Salvation Army policies and procedure manuals including verbal and written warnings.
  • Supervises and participates in the receiving, sorting, pricing, and distribution of donated items in the warehouse.
  • Ensures that items are processed in a timely manner and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Supervises the scheduling and completion of donation pick-ups.
  • Ensures the accountability of all donated items.
  • Ensures donations are collected in compliance with established policies and procedures.
