The mission of Family Support Services is to be the leader in providing safety, stability, and quality of life for all children by working with the community to strengthen the family unit. Job Summary: This is a direct services position that is responsible for a direct service team consisting of Family Services Counselors, and other support staff. In addition to regular supervisory conferences, he/she will monitor and oversee caseloads, attend required staffings, and other duties as required. The Family Services Counselor Supervisor is responsible for providing direction and guidance to staff as related to workload, processes and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in social work or related area of study from an accredited college or university required.
  • At least three years of experience working with at risk children and families or child welfare programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal and medical documents as well as, contracts, manuals, journals, and financial reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups.
  • Ability to calculate figures, amounts, and percentages.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables with a minimum of direction.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to perform at a high level of autonomy or with minimal supervision.
  • Awareness of cultural diversity.
  • Knowledge of Florida child welfare statutes.
  • Knowledge of FSFN.
  • Knowledge of Court system and documentation.
  • Knowledge of Conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of Community resources.
  • Valid state drivers license.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree preferred.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of Foster Care, In Home and Adoption Services through regular communication with Family Service Counselors.
  • Understand and use information from providers to ensure appropriate services are in place for children, parents, and caregivers.
  • Consult with other involved professionals regarding their position on clients progress to ensure the appropriate recommendations are made to the court.
  • Oversight of staff workload and workflow, staff development, recognition, performance management, policy interpretation and enforcement, Communication (team meetings and one-on-ones), etc.
  • Strive to achieve overall department goals as it relates to permanency.
  • Facilitate mediation staffing for reunification, termination of parental rights and detainment.
  • Attend and participate in various meetings and task force groups, communicate issues, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.
  • Identify and proactively follow up on opportunities to meet with local agencies and providers to strengthen/expand the network of services and resources available to the community.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of new programs.
  • Works with team to implement opportunities to brand Family Support Services within the community at events and activities.
  • Respond to emergencies after hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
