About The Position

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, a prominent human services provider founded in 1894, offers a wide range of services including social, educational, health, housing, mental health, nutritional, and fitness programs to approximately 16,000 individuals annually on Manhattan's East Side. Their Early Childhood Center is a model program and lab school dedicated to providing optimal educational, developmental, and social services to 147 low-income preschoolers and their families, while also advancing the field of early childhood education nationally. This center is accredited by NAEYC and is recognized for its comprehensive educational and family services, utilizing a holistic approach that prepares children for success through an age-appropriate curriculum focusing on language, literacy, motor skills, social-emotional development, and cognitive growth, complemented by integrated Family Services. The curriculum includes art, music, movement, swimming, and farm-to-table food, reflecting the settlement house's comprehensive offerings.

Requirements

  • Experience working with low-income young children and their families
  • Stellar academic career

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to achieving excellence on behalf of our children and families
  • Spanish fluency is required
  • Bachelor's or master's in social work or a related field such as human services, counseling, family services

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate services and supports for children enrolled in our program
  • Provide comprehensive social services and supports for their families – from intake, assessment and evaluation through the transition to kindergarten
  • Provide direct assistance and case management for assigned family roster
  • Develop and encourage family goal setting
  • Conduct home visits and provide in-class supports
  • Collaborate with our teaching teams and facilitate family-focused support groups
  • Represent the organization with community partners, providers and funders
  • Work with other Family Services staff, social workers and teachers on program-wide initiatives and provide training to families and staff.
  • Conduct year long outreach and recruitment for the program
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a variety of key stakeholders including families, community partners and educational providers to ensure comprehensive services are available to all participating in our program
  • Complete all other responsibilities as assigned
