This role involves providing comprehensive outpatient care for TRICARE beneficiaries, ranging from newborns to geriatrics, managing complex acute and chronic conditions. The physician will serve as a leader within the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model, facilitating and managing the full spectrum of patient care activities for the Primary Care Manager (PCM) team. Responsibilities include obtaining patient history, performing physical examinations for various purposes (annual exams, pre/post deployment, PHAs, clearances, etc.), diagnosing and treating a wide range of pediatric and adult diseases and injuries, and formulating differential diagnostic plans. Conditions managed include diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, asthma, arthritis, cancer, musculoskeletal injuries, and psychiatric/psychologic disorders. The physician will also order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, perform medical procedures within their scope of practice (e.g., casting, suturing, biopsies, vasectomies), and request consultations or referrals. Additionally, the role involves providing advice to other healthcare professionals, promoting preventive care and health maintenance through education, identifying and reporting public health concerns, stabilizing and managing patients in emergencies, and communicating effectively orally and in writing. Documentation will be done via an electronic medical record system, and specific military-related documentation such as Medical Evaluation Board summaries and medical profiles will be required.
