About The Position

Enjoy over 350 days of sunshine a year in Tucson, AZ! This role involves providing comprehensive outpatient care for TRICARE beneficiaries, ranging from newborns to geriatrics, managing complex acute and chronic conditions. The physician will serve as a leader within the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model, facilitating and managing the full spectrum of patient care activities for the Primary Care Manager (PCM) team. Responsibilities include obtaining patient history, performing physical examinations for various purposes (annual exams, pre/post deployment, PHAs, clearances, etc.), diagnosing and treating a wide range of pediatric and adult diseases and injuries, and formulating differential diagnostic plans. Conditions managed include diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, asthma, arthritis, cancer, musculoskeletal injuries, and psychiatric/psychologic disorders. The physician will also order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, perform medical procedures within their scope of practice (e.g., casting, suturing, biopsies, vasectomies), and request consultations or referrals. Additionally, the role involves providing advice to other healthcare professionals, promoting preventive care and health maintenance through education, identifying and reporting public health concerns, stabilizing and managing patients in emergencies, and communicating effectively orally and in writing. Documentation will be done via an electronic medical record system, and specific military-related documentation such as Medical Evaluation Board summaries and medical profiles will be required.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited medical school with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience within the last three years, preferably in a primary care setting.
Must be board-certified in Family Medicine.
Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Must have current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States of Columbia.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive outpatient care for TRICARE Prime enrolled beneficiaries, as well as TRICARE for Life and space available beneficiaries ranging from newborn to geriatric age presenting with complex and interdependent acute and chronic conditions.
Serve as the leader under the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of health care delivery and will facilitate and manage the full spectrum of professional and patient care activities of the Primary Care Manager (PCM) team.
Obtain appropriate history and perform physical examination of patients. Types of physicals may include, but are not limited to annual exams, pre/post deployment health assessments, Preventive Health Assessments (PHAs), Security and Overseas Clearances, pre-confinement physicals, Line of Duty (LOD), occupational, fitness evaluations, sports and newborn physicals.
Adequately diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric and adult diseases and injuries.
Formulate differential diagnostic plans. Conditions include but are not limited to the management of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, asthma, inflammatory and non-inflammatory arthritic conditions, cancer diagnosis/management/surveillance, musculoskeletal injuries, and acute and chronic psychiatric/psychologic disorders.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, with implementation of appropriate treatment plan and follow-up care in a cost-effective manner.
Prescribe medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Perform medical procedures within credentials and scope of practice. Procedures may include, but are not limited to, casting/splinting, suturing, excisional skin biopsies, vasectomies, and micro excisional dermatologic techniques.
Request consultation or referral with appropriate subspecialties, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
Provide advice by telephone, secure messaging, or in person to other providers, nursing and paraprofessional staff on the care of patients.
Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physical, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
Identify and report cases which have public health significance and carry out effective control measures.
Stabilize and manage patients in a medical or surgical emergency, ensuring appropriate care/transfer to a higher-level facility is accomplished as clinically indicated.
Communicate orally and in writing with a diverse group of individuals (peers, health care team staff, patients), including clear, precise telephone and electronic communication.
Document clinical encounters and patient instructions into the medical record via the electronic medical record system per 355 MDG policies.
Perform medical exams, and reviews, and conduct appropriate military-specific documentation such as (but not limited to) narrative medical summaries for Medical Evaluation Boards, medical profiles, and quarters authorization following military-specific policies.
