The Clinic Family Practice Physician is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment and/or referral of patients in accordance with appropriate Wisconsin statutes and federal regulations. The Clinic Family Practice Physician will elicit a personal medical history; performs an appropriate physical examination and records pertinent data in the patient's medical record. They will assess, evaluate and manage problems for patients of all ages with acute or chronic illness, and administer or prescribe medications as needed including: injections, immunizations and oral medications. The physician will provide patient care, assess and treat problems as indicated and seek physician intervention when necessary. They will perform or assist in routine diagnostic studies as needed, and promote positive health behaviors and self-care skills through education and/or counseling. The role includes providing health maintenance care, assisting in the delivery of services to patients by reviewing and monitoring treatment and therapy plans, and performing evaluation and treatment procedures necessary to ensure appropriate response to life-threatening emergency situations. The physician will also facilitate referral of patients to other appropriate community healthcare facilities, agencies and resources, write prescriptions for medications according to state regulation and practice protocol, and participate in continuing personal education. They must conform to appropriate infection control policies when in contact with patients, blood and body fluids (i.e. practice good Universal Precautions). The role is responsible for documenting patient info in electronic medical record (EPIC) and performing other duties as assigned.
