UIHS Physicians provide comprehensive medical care to clients of United Indian Health Services (UIHS). This role involves providing clinical care, eliciting medical histories, conducting physical exams, ordering diagnostic tests, analyzing findings, administering treatments, and educating clients on preventive care. The physician will also be responsible for reporting vital statistics, referring clients to specialists, and potentially making house calls. Consultation and supervision of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants may be required. The position emphasizes maintaining a professional work environment, assisting in policy development, and providing after-hours phone coverage. A willingness to learn about and work with the American Indian culture is essential, demonstrating cultural awareness and humility, and delivering services in a culturally responsive manner. Adherence to accreditation and compliance standards is also required. Specialized duties may include medical, pediatric, and/or obstetrical services, with potential on-call responsibilities and hospital duties as outlined by contractual agreement. While this job has no direct supervisory responsibilities, the physician will direct the work of others as it relates to client care and may supervise physician assistants or collaborate with nurse practitioners.
