About The Position

The Mentor Clinic is seeking a Family Physician to provide Locum coverage from August 17th to August 21st, 2026. The Mentor Clinic is a demonstration clinic for the “health home” model of primary care, intended to be like the school system where residents of a neighborhood receive care. Patients are attached to the clinic, not an individual provider, ensuring continuity of care. The clinic is built on a collaborative approach, focusing on patient education and empowerment in managing their own health.

Requirements

• all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
• all family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
• membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)

Responsibilities

• delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
• work with other providers in the clinic to provide cross coverage and same day access
• utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members

Benefits

• guaranteed daily minimum income of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 or half-day)
• additional shadow billings if above amount is exceeded.

• travel expenses (including air fare up to $1,500)
• travel time up to 10 hours per week
• licensing fees for College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSNS)
