About The Position

NaphCare is hiring Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) to join their team of medical professionals at ASPC - Lewis in Buckeye, AZ. This role involves managing all aspects of healthcare for incarcerated individuals. The position offers competitive pay rates ranging from $65.00 to $71.00 per hour, with potential for both Full Time and Part Time employment. As a Correctional Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will collaborate with correctional officers and other medical staff to provide care in a secure, engaging environment. Duties include assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with various medical conditions and chronic illnesses, prescribing medications, and responding to emergencies. This unique position allows you to make a difference in the lives of a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.

Requirements

  • Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate)
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in Arizona
  • Current DEA registration
  • An appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician
  • Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
  • Strong organizational skills are needed to keep track of patient treatment plans and progress notes
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

  • Experience working in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conducting physical examinations, developing treatment plans and monitoring patients
  • Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
  • Administering medications and providing instructions to patients
  • Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs, medical histories.
  • Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.
  • Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
  • Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information.
  • Conducting rounds, evaluating patients returning from off-site treatment
  • Admitting and discharging patients from the facility
