About The Position

The Family Ministry Pastor provides vision, leadership, and pastoral care for ministries serving children, students, and families from birth through 12th grade. The role develops a unified, scalable discipleship strategy that equips parents, develops leaders, and aligns Kids and Student Ministries. The pastor leads through staff and ministry leaders rather than executing weekly programming, develops the Kids Ministry Director, and oversees Student Ministry leadership. The position is an opportunity to lead family ministry at Ascent Church during a period of growth. The Family Ministry Pastor develops and implements the family ministry strategy; directs and supports Kids and Student Ministries; equips and pastors parents and families; and ensures these ministries align with the broader church vision. The role includes planning ministry programs and initiatives, supporting parental wellness, managing or approving ministry budgets, and creating spiritual growth pathways and milestone experiences.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience working with the next generation.
Ability to assess and develop systems and people to accomplish the church's vision.
Ability to communicate God's Word to the congregation.
A heart and passion for caring for people and families.
Strong biblical theology, with humility and an ability to engage respectfully with people who hold differing beliefs and perspectives.
Ability to inspire others and multiply people's skills and gifts in service of the church's vision.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive family ministry strategy for children and families from birth through 12th grade.
Direct and oversee Kids Ministry, including selecting curriculum, establishing year-long program initiatives, developing parental wellness opportunities, and managing its budget.
Develop the Kids Ministry Director and oversee Student Ministry leadership.
Direct and support Student Ministry, including its school-year program plan, mission trips, community service projects, and approval of its ministry budget.
Walk alongside new parents and serve as a pastoral resource for families.
Pastor families as they navigate raising older children and meet with families in all stages of parenting.
Equip parents to serve as the primary spiritual leaders of their children.
Develop and lead parenting resources, classes and events, and communication rhythms.
Create meaningful milestone moments, including dedications and transitions.
Ensure alignment among Kids Ministry, Student Ministry, and the broader church vision.
Define clear spiritual growth pathways and key milestone moments.
Develop leaders and systems to support the church's ministry vision.
