About The Position

Christ Community Health Services’ Family Medicine-Obstetrics (FM-OB) Fellow will learn how to manage complex obstetrical conditions and associated care in the context of a distinctively Christian service. The FM-OB Fellow provides care to the underserved patients of Christ Community Health Services and the greater Memphis area including providing high quality care for patients on our obstetrical service. The Fellow will develop clinical skills for management of high-risk prenatal conditions, with oversight from CCHS OB-Gyn and FM-OB attending physicians.

Requirements

  • Graduated from a MD/DO medical school
  • Graduated from Family Medicine residency (GME accredited)
  • Board-eligible or Board-certified in Family Medicine
  • State of Tennessee Medical License
  • Requires a high level of concentration and high level of attention intermittently.
  • Requires close attention to tasks due to the number of steps and/or variables involved.

Responsibilities

  • Works within a multi-disciplinary care team to provide patient-centered obstetric and gynecologic care. Provides clinical leadership within the team.
  • Works within our team of FM-OB and OB-Gyn physicians.
  • Expected patient care hours include: Inpatient Labor call, typically 24 hours per call, OB- Gyn surgery assist, OB-Gyn backup for on-call, FM-OB Outpatient clinic: 0 – 2 shifts per week (4hrs/shift).
  • Participates in continuing medical education, including Life Support Training, to maintain the skills necessary to perform physician duties and as required by applicable medical boards and the State.
  • Documents all patient encounters in a timely manner in hospital and/or clinic health record.
  • Participates in organizational mission to provide distinctively Christian healthcare.
  • Attends staff and medical provider meetings and participates in the health center committees, as needed, to ensure quality patient care. Communicates across departments including behavioral and spiritual health.
  • Attends staff meetings and medical provider meetings and maintain a level of involvement with the health center committees as needed to ensure quality of care for patients.
  • Physicians are to participate in peer review, performance evaluations/improvement data, and other activities to evaluate and advance quality improvement measures.
  • Collaborate with nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) as appropriate, and may assist in the educational training of Medical Students and Residents.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chair of Medicine
