About The Position

PB&J Family Services is seeking a part-time student to support Pre-K programs in the South Valley, Southeast Heights, and/or Bernalillo locations. This role requires a minimum of 20 hours per week, with availability Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM. It offers an excellent opportunity to gain Pre-K experience working with children aged 3-5. The Pre-K Support staff for Family Literacy will work closely with the Lead Teacher to support classroom and student needs, implement developmentally appropriate practices and activities including Family Literacy engagement, and may provide additional support and activities to families to foster children's development needs at home. As a team, staff will create lesson plans following the NM Pre-K lesson plan checklist and work closely with the teacher to document observations, concerns, and the growth of each child. Since 1972, PB&J has provided essential services to New Mexico children and families facing environmental risk factors such as poverty, developmental disabilities, incarceration, substance abuse, and mental health issues.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters
  • Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (if Work Study)
  • Microsoft Word and Excel Experience
  • Organizational Skills
  • Ability to Multi-task
  • MUST have a Work-Study Award
