About The Position

The Family Engagement, ERSEA, and Transportation Coordinator assumes a critical role in providing expert oversight of the Family Engagement, ERSEA (Enrollment, Recruitment, Selection, Eligibility, and Attendance), and Transportation components, ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations as per the Performance Standards. With a focus on analysis, planning, and implementation, this position is responsible for optimizing Head Start's enrollment systems and developing and delivering training programs related to enrollment systems. Additionally, the Coordinator is accountable for the effective implementation of family assessment systems. Additionally, the Coordinator is accountable for the effective implementation of family assessment and empowerment services, including organizing with partner agencies, and meticulous tracking of enrollment services. Furthermore, the Coordinator provides comprehensive oversight of program transportation services, encompassing various aspects such as bus services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, or related field and 2 years work experience in social work, human services, education, or mental health areas.
  • Must have experience working with children.
  • Must have supervisory experience.
  • Must have current First Aid/CPR care or able to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
  • Must have current food handler's card or able to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
  • Must be able to manage confidential information.
  • Must follow Yakama Nation and YN Head Start Code of Conduct.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving Permit.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of Yakama Nation and people, traditions, culture, reservations, and ceded area.
  • Knowledge and experience in data collection and information processes and systems.
  • Articulates the Yakama Nation Head Start mission, values, and policies to staff and clients.
  • Coordinates the organization of Parent Committees and Policy Council.
  • Develops and coordinates annual Shared Governance Training for Policy Council and Tribal Council Education Committee.
  • Develops and provides orientation and annual training on Family Engagement, ERSEA, and Transportation services.
  • Coordinates and facilitates transportation and Family and Community Advocate staff meetings; and communicates with YNHS Management.
  • Provides Support for Parent Committee and Policy Council meetings.
  • Attends all scheduled Parent Committee and Policy Council meetings.
  • Ensures that Parent Committee and Policy Council meetings notes/minutes and attendance logs are recorded and maintained.
  • Coordinates and provides parent/family training based on identified needs.
  • Acts as an advisor and advocate for parents; serves as a resource to parents/families to access information and/or resources.
  • Communicates effectively with other staff to ensure support is provided.
  • Recruits parents as volunteers.
  • Develops and provides training to parents/community members who serve as volunteers.
  • Prepares and maintains reports, includes all parent/family activities, Parent Committee activities, Policy Council activities, Transportation Documentation, Recruitment Activity, and Child Attendance.
  • Abide by program standards ensuring that each family meets the eligibility requirements, and the program is in compliance with guidelines.
  • Develop a procedure and/or protocol for the timely inputting of all records in Child Plus related to relevant components.
  • Assist in providing training to Head Start Staff in the basics of Child Plus in regard to keeping updated records on children and families.
  • Ensure that all data related to the ERSEA department is input into Child Plus within 48 hours of receiving it (workdays).
  • Assist the Family and Community Advocates in monitoring data to ensure completion and documentation of health screenings and follow-up.
  • Assist Health Coordinator with vision and hearing screenings when needed.
  • Review all files within the ERSEA Department to make sure that all appropriate consent forms have been Signed and are readily available.
  • Assure that classrooms are full by monitoring drops and terminations.
  • Monitors family partnership agreements and outcomes.
  • Assist in mentoring new Family Services staff by helping in the development of an individual training plan.
  • Plan and assist in recruiting activities.
  • Work with the Disabilities Manager to ensure that the program meets the 10% mandated federal enrollment requirement for children with special needs.
  • Attend in-service, career development, and continuing education workshops, staff and parent meetings, and conferences as required.
  • Assist Heath Coordinator in facilitation health, dental, and immunization services for each child enrolled.
  • Update the annual enrollment/recruitment plan in conjunction with the governing board, Policy Council, parents, and other center staff.
  • Assist in the collection of data for the Community Assessment.
  • Provides support to Head Start center staff.
  • Attends and participates in all management team meetings.
  • Assists with the development of policies in all relevant components.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
