About The Position

This position involves general customer service and reception duties for the Family & Consumer Sciences department. Responsibilities include filing, handling mail, making copies, restocking supplies, coordinating the retrieval of materials from other campus locations, data entry, and cleaning labs and department spaces. The role also requires initiating and responding to correspondence via in-person, phone, and email with parents, students, staff, faculty, and other individuals on campus. Additionally, the student employee will participate in, organize, and assist with departmental activities or events, which may occur outside of standard business hours. A key aspect of the role is assisting with and leading departmental social media efforts across various platforms, requiring the ability and willingness to learn new platforms. The position also involves performing other duties as assigned, prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, demonstrating strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Requirements

  • Proficient with social media platforms
  • Familiar with digital design (e.g., Canva)
  • Ability to design aesthetically pleasing promotional materials
  • Intermediate proficiency with office technology (email, calendars, document sharing, printers, excel, Word, Microsoft Office suite, etc.)
  • Able to work a set schedule each semester with a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Effectively communicate on a daily basis
