The Family Coach provides families with comprehensive support and education services through an individualized service delivery plan developed jointly with each family. While managing a caseload, the Family Coach advocates for families, conducts recruitment and enrollment activities, monitors attendance, and supports family and community engagement. Services aim to promote parents’ educational and economic success and, in turn, children’s development and school readiness. The role includes determining and documenting eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance; helping families access Head Start and Early Head Start services; conducting family assessments and developing and monitoring family service plans; making referrals and connecting families with community resources; maintaining complete, timely records and reports; and supporting transitions, parent leadership, meetings, and program activities. The Family Coach collaborates with program staff and community partners and provides services in families’ preferred languages or through an interpreter. The work is typically in an office setting, with moderate to loud noise. The role involves extensive interaction and communication, use of office and computing equipment, lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds, and physical activities that may include reaching, bending, kneeling, and moving on hands and knees or hands and feet. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required. Normal to heavy travel is required for activities in and outside the service area, including occasional air travel for training and conferences. Use of a personal vehicle for work-related activities may be needed.
