Tennessee Donor Services (TDS) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Family Care Coordinator to join their team and contribute to saving lives through organ and tissue donation. This role involves working closely with organ donor families, hospital personnel, physicians, and other TDS team members to facilitate the donation process. The primary work environment is within hospitals in the Chattanooga area and throughout Tennessee. The position requires strong interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication, particularly in difficult situations and when building relationships with patients and their families, similar to counseling or patient relations. Family Care Coordinators support and educate the next-of-kin regarding donation options, assess family dynamics and understanding of the patient's prognosis, and act as an advocate for donation while serving as a resource to the donor's family. The role involves initiating donation discussions and the authorization process, providing detailed information for legal authorization, responding to hospital referrals, collaborating with healthcare teams, assessing donors, interpreting charts, and educating hospital staff on the donation process. Responsibilities may be influenced by increased donor activity. The Family Care Coordinator will work 15 days per month and be on call for periods of up to 24 hours.
