About The Position

The Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops skills in areas such as childcare, family relations, culinary, finance, nutrition and related subjects pertaining to home management. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University or be upcoming graduates in an accredited teacher preparation program.
If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Michigan teaching license.

Responsibilities

Understand the Michigan Academic Standards, Benchmarks, and Grade Level Content Expectations for certified areas.
Responsible for creating a classroom environment conducive to learning with programs appropriate for maturity, interest and ability of students at all educational levels
Knowledge of Research based instructional practices.
Demonstration of effective integration of technology into instruction.
Plan a program and lessons that ensure students achieve learning objectives and curriculum goals.
Use a variety of instructional methods, including technology, and materials appropriate to the students and learning.
Ability to integrate real-world application within the learning environment.
Build a safe and productive classroom culture that fosters student responsibility for personal items and equipment.
Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold.
Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset and student-leaders are cultivated.
Demonstration of effective classroom management techniques.
Consistently develop strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children.
Provide opportunities for parents to be involved at the school.
