JOB PURPOSE: Instructional and program support for the Human Development & Family Sciences unit, Family & Consumer Sciences.

Requirements

  • Earned master’s degree in human development and family sciences or closely related field at time of appointment.
  • Established college-level teaching record as graduate student, instructor or above.

Nice To Haves

  • Earned PhD or equivalent terminal degree in HDFS or Family Science.
  • Experience with college/university-level teaching (>1 year of college teaching, with both face-to-face or online experience).
  • Specific expertise in areas such as family relationships, family policy, family stress and coping, family resource management, child development.
  • Proven ability to advise, mentor, or supervise students in academic and professional experiences.
  • Experience teaching in digital learning environments (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard) and experience with online instruction.
  • Effective communication and collaborative skills that facilitate an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and all-around positive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities include teaching traditional and online undergraduate courses in areas such as child development, intimate relationships, family relationships, professionalism and communication in family and consumer sciences, and family decision making and resource management.
  • Responsibilities will also include contributing to professional, departmental, and university service activities.
