About The Position

Minnesota Valley Action Council (MVAC) is a nonprofit community action agency serving south-central Minnesota since 1965. We partner with individuals, families, and communities to promote economic stability and opportunity through housing, transportation, employment, education, and supportive services. Overview of the Position: Responsible for providing Head Start services that support family well-being and family engagement for enrolled participants. Direct services include family assessment, family goal setting, parent engagement, health, mental health, and nutrition. Provide referrals and connect families to community resources. Conduct outreach, recruitment, and family partnership visits in the home. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with families, partners, co-workers, and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Applicant must have a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience working with families is required.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree, baccalaureate degree, or an associate degree.
  • Family Service Credential Certificate.
  • At least 5 years Head Start experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach, recruitment, and applications.
  • Provide health, mental health, and nutrition services to enrolled families.
  • Support family partnership and goal setting with enrolled families.
  • Support parent engagement and community partnership building.
  • Complete paperwork and data entry accurately and in a timely manner according to program requirements and the Forms Routing Checklist.
  • Abide by MVAC policies, Head Start Performance Standards, and Minnesota Department of Human Services Child Care Center statutes and rules.
