About The Position

Bethel University invites applications for a full-time one-year faculty position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, with the possibility of renewal. The position involves teaching the equivalent of a six-course, 24 load-credit load for the year in person at the Arden Hills campus. Responsibilities include teaching introductory chemistry or upper-division courses, contributing to innovation in undergraduate chemistry education, potentially leading and supervising student research projects, and collaboratively supporting departmental goals. The role also requires living out a commitment to the liberal arts educational mission and Christian orientation of the University, and contributing to an academic environment that advances inclusive excellence.

Requirements

  • Specialization in any area of chemistry, with expertise in biochemistry or organic chemistry preferred.
  • Ability to teach chemistry to undergraduate majors and non-majors, and to students from a variety of socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to lead a research program involving undergraduates.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Strong interest in integrating faith and learning.
  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely-related field required.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the equivalent of a six-course, 24 load-credit load for the year (in person at our Arden Hills campus), including introductory chemistry or upper-division courses consistent with the background and interests of the candidate and the needs of the department.
  • Contribute to innovation in undergraduate chemistry education.
  • Lead and supervise student research projects (optional).
  • Collaboratively support departmental goals in areas such as recruiting, curricular reform, assessment, and community building.
