About The Position

Responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction. The instructor must remain current in the discipline area and continually explore teaching methods and strategies to engage learners, organize and plan instructional content that accommodates diverse learning styles, and devise appropriate assessment tools that monitor student learning outcomes. The instructor is also responsible for participating in related activities to include professional development, academic advising, curriculum design, and other activities that contribute to the department, division, and College. The instructor performs all other duties as directed by the Department Chair, Division Dean, or the President or designee.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in chemistry or a master's degree in any field plus fifteen (15) graduate level credits in chemistry.
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience in chemistry lecture and lab at the college level, or pertinent professional experience relevant to teaching area.

  • Maintaining the chemistry e-Organization.
  • Working closely with the Department Chair to develop annual instrument upkeep and maintenance budgets and submitting these annual budgets to the Dean.
  • Reestablishing and maintaining vendor relationships for chemistry instrumentation.
  • Ensuring viability of instrument output devices.
  • Stocking instrument consumables.
  • Ensuring SOPs and login records are available for each instrument.
  • Testing fume hoods, charting and reporting fume hood performance.
  • Updating and upgrading labs.
