About The Position

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Pathology, Division of Hematopathology, is seeking an Academic Hematopathologist. This leadership role involves administrative, educational, and academic responsibilities for a team of 10 hematopathologists and participation in departmental leadership. The position requires providing diagnostic hematopathology services for bone marrow, lymph node, pediatric, flow cytometry, and general hematology services across multiple hospitals. The role also emphasizes pursuing nationally recognized research (basic, clinical, or translational) with external funding and fostering collaborations with national and international academic and industry entities. Support is available for laboratory-based investigations and entrepreneurial efforts based on prior accomplishments.

Requirements

  • M.D. with board certification in Hematopathology
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Pennsylvania

Responsibilities

  • Administrative, educational, and academic leadership of a team of 10 hematopathologists, and involvement in departmental leadership activities
  • Identify and recruit hematopathologists to a growing service
  • Provide diagnostic hematopathology services covering bone marrow, lymph node, pediatric, flow cytometry and general hematology services for a centralized service serving multiple hospitals
  • Actively manage and participate in Divisional educational activities
  • Pursue nationally recognized basic, clinical, or translational investigations that have garnered external funding and interactions with national and international academic and industry entities
