About The Position

The Department of Epidemiology at Boston University School of Public Health invites applications for an open-rank faculty position focused on life-course determinants of health outcomes among older adults and their social networks. The position is part of Boston University’s cross-disciplinary Future of Healthy Aging initiative and seeks to connect fundamental discovery, population health, and translational research to advance healthier aging across the life course. The successful candidate will apply strong methods—such as computational methods, modern causal inference, and data-intensive tools—to investigate how life-course and social factors shape health outcomes among older adults, their families and care networks, and health care systems. The department is particularly interested in expertise related to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, cardiovascular outcomes, or cerebrovascular outcomes. Possible research areas include integrating data across the life course and social networks, evaluating emerging treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and using causal inference to identify scalable personal, clinical, systems, or policy interventions that improve healthy aging and support those who care for older adults. The position includes teaching core and/or advanced epidemiology methods and contributing to interdisciplinary research and the intellectual life of the University. Candidates are expected to demonstrate success in securing external funding, the likelihood of sustaining an externally funded research portfolio, and the capacity to mentor and support trainees applying for career development awards. The university seeks scholars who contribute through innovative scholarship, engaged teaching, and participation in its academic community.

Requirements
