About The Position

Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (www.gordonconwell.edu) Charlotte announces a tenure-track faculty position in Counseling (MACC) beginning in the fall of 2026. The seminary is a multi-denominational, Christian institution with campuses in Charlotte (NC), South Hamilton (MA), Boston (MA), and Jacksonville (FL). The school offers M.Div, M.A.,Th.M., and D.Min. degrees. Approximately 1,600 students are enrolled in degree programs at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. The position involves online and in-person teaching responsibilities in a CACREP-accredited M.A. in Counseling program on the campus in Charlotte, NC. Please note that this position requires regular, in-person engagement on the Charlotte campus. Requirements

  • PhD or EdD in Counselor Education and Supervision as well as graduate level coursework in theology or Biblical studies.
  • Well-qualified applicants who are actively enrolled in a PhD program in Counselor Education and Supervision and who anticipate graduating prior to Fall 2027 are eligible.
  • Applicants with a doctoral degree in a related field (e.g. psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy) must have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program prior to 2013 and show evidence of a strong counselor identity.
  • Scholarly participation in the field as evidenced through academic publications and presentations at professional counseling meetings.
  • Experience in conducting professional counseling and in supervising counselor trainees.
  • Eligible for licensure in North Carolina and expected to become licensed in NC.
  • Competence in both online and in-person teaching modalities.
  • Concurrence with the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Mission and Vision Statement (Expanded).
  • Annual agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith and the Community Life Statement.
  • A formal CV that includes the names of at least three references.
  • A brief explanation (1-3 page) of your understanding of the integration of theology and psychology.

Responsibilities

  • Online and in-person teaching responsibilities in a CACREP-accredited M.A. in Counseling program.
  • Regular, in-person engagement on the Charlotte campus.
  • Teaching six courses per year (counseling core or clinical supervision).
  • Maintaining an active agenda of research/scholarship.
