About The Position

The Cardiology Division at the University of Minnesota is seeking a board certified/eligible Pulmonary Hypertension Cardiologist at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. We are seeking a visionary candidate with expertise in Pulmonary Hypertension to join our nationally recognized team. This role will work closely with leadership across the Cardiovascular Division and the Pulmonary Hypertension Section to expand our clinical reach, advance cutting-edge research, and help lead one of only two PHA-accredited Comprehensive Centers in Minnesota. This position offers the opportunity to join an elite, high-volume program with a complete spectrum of advanced PH and right heart failure therapies, placing the center among a select group of specialized facilities nationwide. The role involves working alongside premier programs offering VA ECMO, lung transplantation, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) surgeries, and balloon pulmonary angioplasties (BPA). The position is celebrated for academic innovation, providing opportunities to drive world-class research, lead or collaborate on groundbreaking basic science, translational studies, and major clinical trials. The candidate will shape the future of cardiovascular medicine through clinical leadership, research excellence, and mentorship within a top-tier academic health center. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive, top-tier care to patients with complex pulmonary hypertension and right heart failure across advanced inpatient and outpatient settings, spearheading innovative clinical trials, translational research, or basic science investigations, partnering with Cardiovascular Division leadership to expand regional access to specialized PH care, and mentoring and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students.

Requirements

  • Board certified/eligible Pulmonary Hypertension Cardiologist at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank.
  • Proven clinical expertise in managing complex PH and right heart failure, including advanced therapies and multi-disciplinary interventions.
  • A strong track record or demonstrated potential for scholarly productivity, clinical trials, or grant-funded research.
  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME residency.
  • Specialized expertise or fellowship in Pulmonary Hypertension.
  • Board eligible/certified in cardiovascular disease.
  • Licensed or ability to acquire medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
  • Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of the VISA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, top-tier care to patients with complex pulmonary hypertension and right heart failure across advanced inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Spearhead innovative clinical trials, translational research, or basic science investigations to advance the field of PH.
  • Partner with Cardiovascular Division leadership to expand regional access to specialized PH care and advance the University’s academic mission.
  • Mentor and teach fellows, residents, and medical students within our academic ecosystem.
