About The Position

This is a 9-month full-time faculty position in the Nursing Department, Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions. Responsibilities include teaching, student advising and mentoring, course development, service to the school, department, and university, and continued scholarship in the field. Teaching responsibilities encompass 24-30 contact hours per academic year, including simulation, theory, and/or clinical experience hours, commensurate with rank. Additional duties involve student recruitment, retention, placement efforts, program assessment, and engagement in university life. The faculty member will fulfill all responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as defined by Stevenson University Policies and the School of Nursing and Health Professions Full-Time Faculty Job Description. Rank and title will be determined at the time of hire based on education and experience.

  • Rank and title determined at the time of hire and will be commensurate with education and experience
  • Maintain clinical practice as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing to keep Registered Nurse license
  • Hold a Registered Nurse license
  • Maintain teaching effectiveness

  • Adjust teaching strategies per recommendations
  • Prepare courses and syllabi in accordance with published faculty guidelines

  • Attend all Faculty/Staff University, School, and Department meetings
  • Attend all convocations, including commencement exercises

  • Serve as a point of contact for Clinical Supervisors in clinical courses as part of role as Course Coordinator, including orienting Clinical Supervisors to specific course requirements, monitoring issues in the clinical setting, and reporting as needed to the Director, Nursing Clinical Education and Program Director, EIP Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Engage in instructional activity totaling 24-30 contact hours per academic year as assigned by Academic Program Administrator (APA).
  • Teaching assignments will include theory, simulation, and/or clinical experience hours.
  • Prepare teaching materials, confer with and provide timely feedback to students, direct individual and group studies, review projects and papers, and evaluate coursework.
  • Supervise independent study projects and submit mid-term and final grades.
  • Maintain teaching effectiveness by encouraging active student learning, reflecting on student evaluations, and adjusting teaching strategies.
  • Prepare courses and syllabi in accordance with published faculty guidelines.
  • Schedule and hold at least three in-person office hours per week.
  • Conduct student advising activities, providing support and resources regarding academic, curricular, career, and graduate school matters.
