About The Position

The School of Engineering in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering (CAE) at Kent State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position in Computer Engineering Technology and Cybersecurity Engineering with an expected start date of August 2026. We seek a dynamic educator and industry-engaged professional committed to excellence in teaching, student success, and workforce development. The successful candidate will primarily support the Computer Engineering Technology program while contributing to the Cybersecurity Engineering program and related initiatives within the School of Engineering.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Computer hardware and computer systems, Networking and network administration, Server administration and configuration, Information technology infrastructure, Cybersecurity and information assurance, Wireless and network security.
  • Demonstrated commitment to effective teaching and student engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry experience and/or demonstrated collaboration with industry in networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, information technology, computing systems, or related technical fields.
  • Professional certifications such as Cisco, CompTIA, Microsoft, ISC², EC-Council, or similar credentials.
  • Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience teaching laboratory-based courses in networking, cybersecurity, computing systems, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with cybersecurity range environments, networking laboratories, or other hands-on instructional platforms.
  • Ability to contribute to instruction within the Cybersecurity Engineering program.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in areas such as computer hardware, networking, server administration and configuration, information technology security, cybersecurity fundamentals, wireless and network security, programming, and related topics.
  • Contribute to instruction within the Cybersecurity Engineering program based on expertise and program needs.
  • Support hands-on, experiential learning through the effective use of networking laboratories, server laboratories, cybersecurity range environments, and other instructional facilities.
  • Mentor students and contribute to student success, career preparation, and professional development.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Contribute service to the School, College, University, and profession through committee participation, outreach, recruitment, and engagement with industry partners.
