About The Position

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time academic Interventional Pulmonologist to join a growing division committed to excellence in clinical care, medical education, and program development. This position offers a unique opportunity to participate in the continued growth of an expanding interventional pulmonary program within a rapidly evolving academic health system. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the future direction of Interventional Pulmonology within a growing academic medical center. The Division has a long-term goal of developing advanced interventional pulmonary training opportunities, including an Interventional Pulmonary fellowship program, and seeks candidates with the vision, leadership skills, and educational commitment to contribute to that effort. Candidates with a demonstrated passion for medical education and experience teaching learners across multiple disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Completion of an Interventional Pulmonary fellowship.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Interventional Pulmonology and Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine.
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence and multidisciplinary patient care.
  • Interest in medical education and academic medicine.
  • Interest in clinical program development, quality improvement, and scholarly activity.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Significant experience in Interventional Pulmonology.
  • Experience with robotic bronchoscopy, advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy, EBUS, pleural procedures, and airway interventions.
  • Interest in section leadership and future administrative responsibilities.
  • Interest in developing advanced training opportunities, including participation in future fellowship development efforts.
  • Candidates with a demonstrated passion for medical education and experience teaching learners across multiple disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive interventional pulmonary services, including advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy.
  • Participate in robotic bronchoscopy, EBUS, pleural procedures, and airway interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with thoracic surgery, oncology, radiology, pathology, and lung cancer screening programs.
  • Support growth in both the capacity and complexity of interventional pulmonary services across East Texas.
  • Participate in pulmonary and critical care clinical activities as appropriate.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and nursing staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement, performance improvement, and program development initiatives.
