About The Position
The University of Pittsburgh Department of Music is looking for a part-time instructor to teach private lessons in upright and/or electric bass. The instructor will work with students of varying skill levels and must be proficient in orchestral, jazz, and folk music styles. Responsibilities include introducing students to various repertoires (orchestral, chamber, band, solo) across different genres, and preparing them for public performances and juries. These private lessons are credit-generating and contribute to music major/minor and general education requirements.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in bass performance or equivalent professional experience.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Ability to work with students at various skill levels.
- Fluency in orchestral, jazz, and folk idioms.
Responsibilities
- Give private lessons in upright and/or electric bass.
- Work with students at various skill levels.
- Introduce students to orchestral, chamber, band, and solo repertories covering a wide variety of genres.
- Assist in preparation for public performances and juries.
