About The Position

This is a tenure-track faculty position in Construction Technology. The role involves teaching classes, developing new educational materials, curriculum review and assessment, performing professional duties, and participating in departmental and institutional functions. Tenure-track faculty report to the chairperson of the Engineering Technologies Department and may be expected to teach at various campus locations or in different modalities (online, remote, hybrid). The successful candidate will bring expertise in Construction Technology to MCC and will be responsible for preparing and teaching courses in the department, assigned to the Brighton Campus.

Requirements

• Earned bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or a related field from a regionally-accredited higher education institution or Professional Engineer (PE) license with an associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Technology.
• Five (5) years of full-time industry experience in work related to the discipline-specific coursework required.
• Ability to teach courses within the department; ability to teach all courses in the Construction Technology program.

• Earned a master's degree in a related field.
• College-level teaching experience; community college experience preferred.
• Experience with Blackboard or Brightspace.
• Experience and/or interest in teaching online courses.
• Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies.
• Awareness of the potential value of technology as a tool for teaching.
• Experience in student recruitment.

• Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish or other languages, proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes and develop new educational materials.
• Assist with curriculum review and assessment.
• Perform professional duties and participate in departmental and institutional functions.
• Prepare and teach courses in the department.
• Demonstrate and maintain current subject area knowledge.
• Develop and teach online Construction Technology content.
• Evaluate student performance as per guidelines.
• Teach multiple courses/sections each term as outlined by the contract.
• Prepare lesson plans and create instructional materials and activities for student engagement.
• Prepare Course Information Sheet/Syllabus/Outlines.
• Establish and maintain an engaging and supportive classroom environment.
• Encourage students' participation in class activities.
• Provide students with assistance and guidance regarding the educational program and appropriate conduct.
• Identify learning objectives and evaluate student performance based on objectives.
• Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other records.
• Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
• Advise students concerning academic, career, and related issues.
• Assist the department with student recruitment, enrollment, and placement.
• Assist the department with student retention and completion initiatives.
• Assist with development, review, and revision of department curriculum, including assessment of student learning and program review.
• Participate in program and course-level assessments.
• Develop innovative teaching pedagogies to facilitate learning.
• Incorporate high-impact teaching practices into course design.
• Attend department meetings.
• Support ENT department recruiting events.
• Provide timely submission of all required paperwork/information.
• Adhere to all College and department policies.
• Contribute to the College through Division, department, and College committees.
• Actively engage in pedagogical and academic discipline professional development.
• Assist the department in faculty recruitment and peer evaluation.
• Assist in the development of grant proposals and implementation of grant projects.
• Work independently and in a team setting, demonstrating excellent time management skills to prioritize workflow and multitask.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the department chair.
• May be assigned courses at any MCC campus or extension site location.
