About The Position

This is a Full-Time 9-month/tenure track faculty position, with a start date of January 2027. The position requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends. The role provides instruction in Communication courses across multiple teaching modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. Courses may be taught at various College locations, local ISD high schools, and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) facilities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Communication; or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Communication or a related field.
  • Requires the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications within (30) days of hire.
  • Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. "equivalency."
  • This position requires a criminal history and/or motor vehicle records check.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of professional media production and/or broadcast experience.
  • Working knowledge of Blackboard or similar Learning Management Systems
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish.
  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the ability to use them responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with organizational guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise students in assigned Communication courses across various instructional formats, times, and locations.
  • Prepare course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments in accordance with College standards.
  • Deliver engaging instruction using effective teaching methodologies, technology, classroom media, and educational resources.
  • Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and maintain required academic records and reports.
  • Advise and support students regarding academic progress and connect them with appropriate College resources.
  • Utilize technology and Learning Management Systems to support face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, student recruitment, retention, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of instructional practices, communication technologies, and evolving technological needs.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, College administration, and the community.
  • Participate in institutional meetings, committees, and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to College policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
