About The Position

Provides academic instruction and student academic support for the Civil Construction Technology program. This is a 9.5 month, full-time position.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • 3 years of recent professional experience in civil construction or heavy civil work such as: site development and earthwork; excavation and grading; utilities (water, sewer, stormwater); roadway, bridge, or infrastructure construction; construction inspection or field engineering.
  • Or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • PA Act-15 Clearance Required to be compliant with PA Child Protective Service Laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Prior teaching experience at a community college, technical school, apprenticeship or workforce development program, or college/university.
  • Industry credentials in engineering technology and/or construction.
  • Experience with construction-related software and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned Civil Construction Technology courses.
  • Participates in curriculum development, maintenance, and assessment.
  • Provides academic support, advising, and career guidance to students including establishing and maintaining a schedule of office hours.
  • Participates in college governance by serving on joint, ad hoc, faculty, campus, division and discipline committees.
  • Participates in student recruitment activities and community outreach in support of the program.
  • Participates in professional growth activities and maintains awareness of new trends and developments within areas of instructional responsibility.
  • Coordinates, plans, organizes, and instructs academic courses according to approved course syllabus.
  • Provides high quality and consistent academic instruction to students.
  • Provides high quality academic support and advising to students.
  • Keeps students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
  • Keeps students informed about their progress through prompt grading of assignments, labs, and other work.
  • Maintains accurate and complete scholastic records, including attendance records.
  • Maintain scheduled office hours.
  • Ensures that assigned classes are held as scheduled.
  • Organizes and maintains class work and assignments.
  • Strives for the qualities delineated in the criteria for faculty evaluation used by the college.
  • Is thoroughly familiar and complies with all college policies and procedures.
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Works in a professional, collegial, and team-oriented manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
