About The Position

The School of Community Resources and Development (SCRD) in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions for the 2026-2027 academic year. Faculty Associates and Academic Associates are part-time appointments who are hired on one-semester, renewable contracts to teach one or two courses (not to exceed 0.40 FTE) per semester, either in person or online. Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions are fixed-term appointments that are not eligible for benefits, sabbaticals, or tenure. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates and Academic Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University. For this position, we seek a pool of qualified people who are available to teach in-person courses on ASU’s Downtown Phoenix or Tempe campus or online.

Requirements

  • An earned master’s degree in tourism, hospitality, event management, parks, recreation, sport management or a related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.
  • Three years of related experience (prior teaching and/or practitioner experience that involves developing and/or providing training and development workshops/courses to adult learners).
  • Consistent with ASU’s Charter, a demonstrated commitment to inclusion.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in tourism, hospitality, events or similar fields, especially in leadership capacities.
  • Prior higher education/adult teaching, guest lecturing and/or training experiences, online or in-person.
  • Evidence of effective collaboration skills.
  • Experience with technology/course management systems such as Canvas.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses as assigned.
  • Deliver engaging in-person (and/or online) lectures, discussions, and content.
  • Contribute to the creation of assignments and exams.
  • Evaluate and grade student work according to rubrics.
  • Manage Canvas learning management platform and hold office hours to assist students.
