About The Position

The School of Community Resources and Development (SCRD) in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions for the 2026-2027 academic year. These are part-time appointments, typically one-semester renewable contracts, for teaching one or two courses per semester (not to exceed 0.40 FTE), either in-person or online. These are fixed-term appointments and are not eligible for benefits, sabbaticals, or tenure. Salary is based on qualifications and teaching load. Official transcripts are required before employment. Individuals in these roles may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at ASU. We are seeking a pool of qualified individuals available to teach in-person courses on ASU’s Downtown Phoenix or Tempe campus, or online. The Watts College is home to over 6747 undergraduate and graduate students, with highly ranked programs in Nonprofit Leadership Management (Masters ranked #4 in the US, NACC accredited) and Hospitality, Leisure, Sport, and Tourism (ranked #7 globally). SCRD's mission is to co-create transformative solutions that enhance community well-being, offering interdisciplinary expertise and innovative academic programs. Courses are delivered via in-person, online, and hybrid platforms with well-defined syllabi. NLM courses align with Nonprofit Academic Centers Council (NACC) Curricular Guidelines.

Requirements

  • An earned master’s degree in nonprofit leadership and management, educational leadership, public administration or a related field from an accredited institution by time of appointment.
  • Experience working in nonprofits, public administration or related fields, especially in leadership capacities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, consistent with ASU’s Charter.
  • Comfortable with technology.
  • Enjoy educating students in a higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated evidence of a strong appetite and success for teaching, leading, learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior higher education/adult teaching, guest lecturing and/or training experiences, online or in-person.
  • Three years of related experience in the field of nonprofit leadership.
  • Evidence of effective collaboration skills.
  • Experience with technology/course management systems such as Canvas.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and/or assist with courses as assigned.
  • Deliver and/or assist in preparing engaging in-person (and/or online) lectures, discussions, and course content for assigned courses.
  • Contribute to the creation and/or grading of course materials, assignments and exams according to rubrics.
  • Manage Canvas learning management platform.
  • Hold office hours to assist students.
  • Be responsive to student questions and discussion boards in Canvas.
