About The Position

This position assists instructors in the classroom and online (as needed) and must be available as a tutor for the students of the assigned courses. In addition, this position assists the Department Chair and/or Director of Undergraduate Studies in developing and implementing strategies and practices for improving undergraduate student learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Good time management.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in anthropology from a three or four-field department.
  • Experience teaching online.
  • Experience with Canvas.
  • Broad teaching skills in all areas of anthropology.
  • One to three years of teaching, or teaching assistance experience, in a college or university, or one-time attendance at the summer teaching assistant orientation hosted by the Teaching Center.

Responsibilities

  • Assist instructors in the classroom and online (if necessary) and be available to students of the assigned courses as a tutor.
  • Have the capability of assisting in classes spanning all three major sub-disciplines of Anthropology.
  • Grade exams and papers.
  • Conduct review sessions.
  • Advise students.
