About The Position

Exciting work in a brand-new facility! The City of Elk River is looking for candidates for the position of Facility Worker/Ice Resurfacer at the Furniture and Things Community Event Center. This position will drive the ice resurfacer to maintain an optimal ice surface as well as perform custodial and customer service duties. Requires a valid MN driver's license. Interested candidates need to apply online. This position is eligible for Earned Sick and Safe Time if all qualifications are met. This position may also qualify for MN Public Retirement Association (PERA) benefit. This part-time position pays $18.00 per hour to start. Requirements

  • Skills in operating custodial maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to operate an ice resurfacer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, facility users, and general public.
  • Ability to read and record readings on gauges on facility equipment.
  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license.

  • Experience running an ice resurfacer.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains ice surface in optimum condition for a variety of ice related activities.
  • Operates and maintains ice resurfacer equipment.
  • Performs resurfacing in a manner that keeps ice hours on schedule.
  • Maintains high quality ice surface.
  • Provides custodial functions of the facility.
  • Performs custodial duties to ensure facility and grounds are clean and safe.
  • Monitors equipment, keeps accurate records, and reports any problems to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Sets up and tears down event spaces within facility.
  • Performs customer service related duties.
  • Enforces arena rules and policies.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Performs skate sharpening.
  • Performs other essential job duties.
  • Regular and timely work attendance.
  • Follows all safety procedures.
  • Participates in safety training.
