About The Position

Performs duties as a Facility System Engineer (Engineer II) at the Principal Underground Laboratory for Subcritical Experimentation (PULSE), an underground nuclear facility at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). The role supports the capability of PULSE to execute national-level experiments that help ensure the nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile remains safe, secure, and effective. Initially, the engineer will support design, construction, turnover, commissioning, and readiness activities for two new testbeds at PULSE. The role will then transition into the PULSE Facility Engineering group as the original Subject Matter Expert/Cognizant System Engineer for one or more systems developed as part of the testbeds, such as cranes/load handling, chilled water/HVAC, refuge stations, or fire protection. The position is based primarily at the NNSS, approximately 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada. The schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, subject to change. A pre-placement physical examination that includes drug screening is required. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance. Employment screening includes drug testing and background reviews; a federal investigation and subsequent reinvestigations are required for clearance eligibility, and a counterintelligence evaluation may also be required.
