The role supports the facility’s ability to execute national-level experiments that help ensure the nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile remains safe, secure, and effective. Initially, the engineer will support design, construction, turnover, and commissioning of two new testbeds. The role will then transition to the PULSE Facility Engineering group, serving as the original Subject Matter Expert and Cognizant System Engineer for one or more systems developed as part of the testbeds, such as cranes and load handling, chilled water/HVAC, refuge stations, fire protection, or electrical systems. The position maintains cognizance of assigned facility systems and provides system engineering, cognizant system engineering, design authority, operations and maintenance, and safety-support services. It includes developing and maintaining system documentation, assessing system health and readiness, supporting commissioning and acceptance activities, and coordinating technical work with project teams, vendors, technicians, and management. The primary work location is the Nevada National Security Site, approximately 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada. The schedule is 4/10s, Monday through Thursday, subject to change.
